The Spirit of Giving scholarship is a yearly scholarship award created in 2018 by Wine Country Baskets to show and encourage kindness, service, and giving. Every year, three well-deserving students are awarded a $1,000 scholarship. The scholarship is aimed at students supporting their communities through services. It is open to high school seniors and current college students.

An applicant must be someone other than an employee or a family member of Houdini Inc. or Wine Country Gift Baskets and a previous scholarship winner. They must be attending a school the following year at an institution within the US.

Citizenship/Country: US Citizens, Permanent Residents

Minimum GPA: No GPA requirement

Application Requirements

Submission essay: The essay must be within 500-700 words on any of these topics:

  • How have you improved the spirit of giving in your community or abroad through service or giving?
  • How has the spirit of giving impacted you personally?
  • How will your college or post-secondary education permit you to be of service to others or give to others?

Mode of Application: Email

School Verification: A proof of enrollment for the upcoming year. If the applicant is an incoming freshman, they can provide their acceptance letter and the complimentary documents showing established relationships with the school. 

Scholarship Timeline

Application for the Spirit of Giving Scholarship usually starts on October 1 every year and ends on July 31 the following year. After receiving applications, a committee will review the applications and announce the winners on the second Tuesday of August. The checks will be emailed to the winners by the end of August.
